Intelligent HW (IHW) is a South Korean artificial intelligence semiconductor company that pioneers Analog Compute-in-Memory (ACiM) technology. The company develops ultra-low-power, high-performance AI chips designed to overcome the limitations of conventional digital architectures. IHW's core product is the Analog Processing Unit (APU), which integrates analog computing with digital architectures to enhance power efficiency and inference accuracy for on-device AI applications.

In September 2023, the company's Korean branch, IHWK, partnered with Microchip Technology's subsidiary, Silicon Storage Technology (SST), to develop a neuromorphic computing platform. This collaboration utilizes Microchip's memBrain™ neuromorphic memory solution, which is based on SuperFlash® nonvolatile memory (NVM) technology, to perform vector matrix multiplication (VMM) for neural networks via an analog in-memory compute approach. The objective is to produce an ultra-low-power APU for edge AI/ML inferencing applications such as generative AI, autonomous cars, medical diagnosis, and voice processing. IHWK is also collaborating with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) and Yonsei University on device development and design. The resulting APU is projected to operate between 20-80 TeraOPS per Watt.

IHW's business model appears to be focused on creating and licensing its specialized APU and related technologies. The company targets markets that require high-performance, low-power AI processing at the edge, including mobile devices, autonomous vehicles, robotics, drones, and medical applications. By storing AI parameters directly within the processor, their technology aims to eliminate memory bottlenecks that affect traditional digital computing.
