Initia is a Singapore-based blockchain infrastructure startup founded in 2022 that is developing a network for what it terms "interwoven rollups". The company emerged from stealth mode in October 2023 with a pre-seed investment from Binance Labs. Since its inception, Initia has secured a total of $22.5 million in funding through pre-seed, seed, and a $14 million Series A round, reaching a valuation of $350 million. Key investors include Theory Ventures, Delphi Ventures, and Hack VC.

The founding team includes former developers from Terraform Labs and the Cosmos ecosystem, notably co-founders Stan Liu and Ezaan "Zon" Mangalji. Their journey began while working at Terraform Labs, where Liu researched Miner Extractable Value (MEV) and Zon was a smart contract developer. Following the collapse of the Terra/Luna ecosystem, they pivoted from their initial DeFi blockchain concept to create Initia, focusing on building a more robust and interconnected multi-chain infrastructure.

Initia's core business is providing a platform that combines a Layer 1 (L1) blockchain with an integrated system of application-specific Layer 2 (L2) rollups, referred to as "Minitias". This architecture is designed for developers, particularly those in sectors like DeFi and GameFi, to launch their own scalable blockchains without needing to manage complex infrastructure or validator sets. The business model centers on creating a unified ecosystem where the L1 acts as a coordination hub for security, liquidity, and interoperability between all the L2s built on the platform.

The platform's main offering is the "Interwoven Stack," a toolkit that provides developers with product-ready rollups. A key feature is its multi-virtual machine environment, supporting EVM, MoveVM, and WasmVM, which gives developers flexibility. Initia aims to solve the fragmentation common in multi-chain environments by creating a seamless user experience. This is achieved through integrated products like the InitiaDEX for cross-chain swaps, enshrined liquidity mechanisms, and a Vested Interest Program (VIP) that aligns economic incentives across the network.
