About Hymeth

Hymeth, a Danish cleantech company founded in 2016, is positioned to address the growing demand for green hydrogen. The company originated as a spin-off from Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), based on patented innovations in electrolyzer technology. The name itself is a blend of "hydrogen" and "methane," reflecting its core focus on the sustainable production of these gases. Financial backing has been secured through multiple funding rounds, including a seed round in September 2020 and a Series A round in June 2025, totaling approximately $5.17 million from investors such as EIT InnoEnergy, Antler, and Thisbe AB.

Hymeth operates in the green energy sector, developing and producing electromagnetic electrolyzers to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. This process is central to producing green hydrogen, which serves as a clean energy carrier with applications in transportation, industry, and energy storage. The company's business model revolves around the sale of its electrolyzer systems to a range of clients, including farmers, businesses with solar installations, and industrial sectors aiming to replace fossil fuels. By converting excess renewable electricity into hydrogen, Hymeth enables easier storage and contributes to decarbonization efforts.

The company's flagship product is the Hyaeon™ electrolyzer, a low-temperature, high-pressure alkaline system. A key differentiator is its proprietary non-precious alloy electrocatalyst, which avoids the use of expensive and rare materials like platinum and iridium commonly found in competing PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolyzers. This approach is designed to lower both capital (CapEx) and operating (OpEx) expenses. The Hyaeon™ system boasts an independently verified efficiency of 84% (HHV) and is compact and modular, reducing its physical footprint. Hymeth has developed a 25kW system ready for field deployment and is working on scaling up to 250kW units for industrial applications. The company has also announced plans for a solid-carbon reactor, Hynace™, which would produce synthetic fuels by extracting carbon dioxide from the environment.
