Hummink

Hummink is a deep-tech company founded in 2020 that specializes in high-precision printing technology for the microelectronics industry. It was established as a spin-off from the École Normale Supérieure – PSL and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) by materials scientist Amin M'Barki and hardware startup operator Pascal Boncenne. The founding team also includes scientific inventors Professor Lydéric Bocquet, Alessandro Siria, Antoine Niguès, and deep-tech entrepreneur Christophe Bureau.

The company has developed a patented High-Precision Capillary Printing (HPCaP) technology, which functions like a miniature fountain pen to deposit metals and other functional materials at the sub-micron scale. This process allows manufacturers to create and repair circuitry with high accuracy, addressing microscopic defects in real time. Hummink's technology is designed to complement traditional lithography by detecting and correcting flaws at the micronic level, thereby increasing production yields, reducing material waste, and lowering the environmental impact of manufacturing.

The primary markets for Hummink's technology are the semiconductor and advanced display industries, particularly in the manufacturing of next-generation OLED displays for smartphones and laptops where microscopic defects can lead to significant production losses. The business model currently involves selling the NAZCA demonstrator, a first-generation high-precision printing system designed for R&D labs, and providing custom conductive inks. These systems are already in use at research centers in Europe, Asia, and the United States. The company also plans to license its HPCaP technology to tool makers for integration into high-volume production modules.

Hummink has secured significant funding to support its growth, including a Seed round in 2020, a €5 million round in 2022, and a €15 million funding round in 2025. This capital is being used to further develop its industrial printing module, prepare for integration into semiconductor fabrication lines, and expand its global presence.
