About HUMAX
In 1989, seven graduates from Seoul National University, led by founder Dae Gyu Byun, started a company named Conin System. Their initial focus was on consumer electronics like home karaoke machines. A pivotal decision was made in 1994 to focus on digital home appliances, setting the stage for a major shift. The company's breakthrough came in 1996 when it successfully developed a digital satellite set-top box, becoming the first in Asia and third in the world to do so. This innovation placed the company, which was renamed HUMAX in 1998, at the forefront of the digital television revolution. This success led to a significant milestone in April 1997 when the company went public with an IPO on the KOSDAQ stock exchange. Following its public offering, HUMAX aggressively expanded its global footprint, establishing subsidiaries across Europe, the UAE, and the US. By 2010, the company had achieved $1 billion in exports, cementing its position as a global leader in the set-top box market. Recognizing the changing technology landscape, HUMAX began to diversify. Starting around 2008 and accelerating with acquisitions, the company has recently pushed into the total mobility solutions space, developing platforms for fleet management, smart parking, and EV charging.
