In 1983, a company was founded in Minnesota with a focus on bar code data collection systems. This company, HighJump Software, started by R. Ross Elliott, initially addressed a niche but growing need in the logistics world. Its core business evolved to become a global provider of supply chain management software, creating tools to manage the complex flow of inventory and information from the factory to the store shelf. The company developed a suite of adaptable software solutions for warehouse management, transportation, and in-store fulfillment. HighJump's journey was marked by a series of acquisitions that expanded its capabilities. Over the years, it integrated other software firms, continuously adding to its portfolio to provide a more comprehensive view of the entire supply chain. This strategy allowed them to serve a wide range of customers, from small businesses to large global enterprises, across numerous industries like retail, automotive, and pharmaceuticals. The most significant event in HighJump's recent history occurred in August 2017. The company was acquired by Körber, an international technology group based in Germany. This move was a strategic play for Körber to strengthen its logistics software division and expand its footprint in the North American market. For HighJump, it meant becoming part of a larger, global entity with extensive resources. Following the acquisition, HighJump was integrated into Körber's Logistics Systems business area and, by 2020, was rebranded as part of Körber Supply Chain, marking the end of one chapter and the start of another under a unified global brand.
