Espressif Systems (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (STAR Market: 688018) is a multinational fabless semiconductor company founded in 2008 and headquartered in Shanghai Pudong Zhangjiang. Espressif designs low-power Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, Thread, Zigbee and Matter connectivity SoCs and AIoT platforms around the ESP8266 and ESP32 families, complemented by SDKs and cloud tooling such as ESP RainMaker. The company operates R&D sites in China, the Czech Republic, India, Singapore and Brazil. By year-end 2025 Espressif employed 898 people worldwide, of whom more than 70% work in engineering, and cumulative IoT chip shipments exceed 1.5 billion units.
