About Enverv

Enverv was a fabless semiconductor company that developed Communications System on a Chip (SoC) solutions for the smart grid market. The company provided multi-standard Power Line Communications (PLC) modems designed for applications such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), solar inverters, and industrial control, focusing on reliable data transmission across power line networks. Enverv's technology enabled communications over both low-voltage and medium-voltage power lines.

The company went through multiple funding rounds, raising a total of $33.4 million. Its Series A round in June 2010 raised $6.03 million with investors including New Enterprise Associates and Walden International. A Series B round in December 2011, led by Benchmark Capital, raised $12 million. The largest round was a Series C in March 2014 for $15.4 million, with backers including Cisco Investments and UMC Capital.

In January 2015, Semtech Corporation acquired the assets of Enverv for an undisclosed amount, and the Enverv team joined Semtech. The acquisition was strategic for Semtech, as Enverv's PLC technology was complementary to Semtech's existing LoRa wireless platforms. This combination allowed Semtech to offer a more comprehensive platform for metering, machine-to-machine (M2M), and Internet of Things (IoT) markets by combining wireless and powerline communication technologies.
