Enodia Therapeutics
AI-driven small molecules targeting protein secretion degradation.
About Enodia Therapeutics
Enodia Therapeutics is a French biotechnology company established in February 2025 as a spin-off from the Institut Pasteur and incubated by the start-up studio Argobio. The company's scientific foundation stems from research led by Professor Caroline Demangel, co-founder and head of the Immunobiology and Therapy Unit at the Institut Pasteur. Her team's discovery of the mechanism of Mycolactone, a natural inhibitor of the Sec61 translocon, revealed a novel therapeutic pathway. The company is led by CEO Yves Ribeill, who previously founded and led Scynexis, Inc.
Enodia is developing first-in-class treatments for cancer, inflammatory diseases, and viral infections by targeting the Sec61 translocon, a cellular gateway for protein secretion. The firm's core technology is a discovery platform that utilizes machine learning and proteomics-based analysis to develop selective small molecule inhibitors. These inhibitors are designed to block the secretion of specific disease-causing proteins at their point of synthesis, leading to their degradation before they can cause pathological effects. This approach allows Enodia to pursue previously undruggable secreted and membrane protein targets, addressing conditions with high unmet medical needs.
In January 2026, Enodia Therapeutics secured €20.7 million (US$25 million) in a seed financing round. The round was co-led by Elaia, Pfizer Ventures, and Bpifrance, with participation from investors including Argobio Studio, the Institut Pasteur, and Mission BioCapital. This capital is intended to advance the company's lead programs in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases toward preclinical candidate selection. Shortly after its launch, Enodia won the 2025 Golden Ticket competition sponsored by Pfizer and BioLabs Hôtel-Dieu, recognizing its innovative potential.
