EGI Battery Inc. is an American battery cell manufacturer specializing in advanced semi-solid-state, lithium-ion, and silicon-rich high-performance batteries. Founded in 2012 by CEO Tom McGuckin, the company is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and focuses on designing and manufacturing its products in the United States, emphasizing a domestically resilient supply chain. On March 3, 2026, EGI Battery announced it had raised $10 million in a seed financing round led by TSV Capital to accelerate domestic production and commercial expansion.

The company develops energy storage technologies for a range of dual-use and mission-critical applications, including unmanned and autonomous systems, aviation, robotics, light mobility, and other critical infrastructure. EGI's product lineup includes semi-solid-state batteries (SSB), lithium battery modules, and next-generation lithium metal anode-based solid-state batteries. A key product is the SWIFT series of semi-solid-state batteries, which are noted for their high energy density, fast-charging capabilities, and extended cycle life. These cells have been validated by top U.S. automotive OEMs and leading drone manufacturers.

EGI operates with a business model centered on producing A-, B-, and C-samples through internal development and joint-development projects for commercialization and mass production. The company is advancing its manufacturing capabilities at its Zeeb Campus in Ann Arbor, with a phased plan to scale up production. Phase I, starting in Q3 2025, will focus on filling and formation, with an annual capacity of 750,000 cells. Subsequent phases in 2026 will add cell stacking, assembly, and eventually slurry mixing and coating, aiming for a total annual capacity of 1.3 million cells. EGI is also pursuing ISO 9001 and AS9100 certifications and aims to have a supply chain that is 95% NDAA-compliant by 2028.

A significant partnership was announced in April 2025 with Mullen Automotive, an electric vehicle manufacturer. This agreement involves manufacturing EGI's SWIFT SSB modules and battery packs at Mullen's facility in Fullerton, California, with production slated to begin in early 2026. This collaboration is intended to reduce supply chain vulnerabilities and address tariff-related costs.
