Cloaked

Cloaked is a consumer-first privacy company founded in 2020 by brothers Arjun and Abhijay Bhatnagar. Arjun, the CEO, was inspired to create the platform after building a personal AI system that aggregated his own health, financial, and personal data, revealing the immense power and risk of centralized information. This led to the development of Cloaked, which aims to give individuals control over their personal data by creating disposable, virtual identities.

The company operates on a direct-to-consumer, subscription-based business model, offering tiered plans for individuals, couples, and families. The core service allows users to generate unlimited, unique identities—including real, working phone numbers, email addresses, usernames, and passwords—for every online interaction. This is facilitated through a browser extension and mobile app that function similarly to a password manager, but instead of only storing credentials, it creates and substitutes real user information with 'cloaked' data. All communications sent to these virtual identities are collected and managed within the Cloaked platform, keeping the user's personal inboxes free from spam.

Beyond identity generation, the platform offers a comprehensive suite of privacy tools. These include a service to remove personal information from over 120 data brokers, a dark web and SSN monitoring service that provides real-time alerts for data exposures, and an AI-powered call screening feature to block spam and scam calls. The service also includes a password manager, multi-factor authentication support, and up to $1 million in identity theft insurance and restoration services. To ensure data security, Cloaked utilizes end-to-end encryption, a zero-knowledge architecture, and creates a unique, siloed database for each user.

Cloaked has raised a total of $29 million over two funding rounds, including a $25 million Series A in March 2022 co-led by Lux Capital and Human Capital. Other notable investors include General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, and The Chainsmokers' Mantis Fund. The company came out of beta in October 2023 with a waiting list of over 50,000 users.
