About CardioSignal

CardioSignal, a brand of the Finnish health technology company Precordior, develops digital cardiac biomarkers for the early detection of heart disease. Founded in 2015 as an academic spinoff from the University of Turku, the company is headquartered in Turku, Finland, with a presence in Palo Alto, California. The co-founder and CEO is Dr. Juuso Blomster, a cardiologist and Adjunct Professor of Cardiology at the University of Turku. His background includes various international roles in the medical and pharmaceutical industries.

The company's core technology, gyrocardiography, utilizes the built-in gyroscope and accelerometer in smartphones to non-invasively measure chest micro-vibrations caused by heart motion. This patented method is the result of over a decade of academic research and algorithm development. The CardioSignal mobile application is a CE-marked Class IIb medical device that can detect signs of atrial fibrillation in one minute with 96% accuracy. The technology is also being validated for other cardiovascular conditions, including heart failure, aortic stenosis, and coronary artery disease.

CardioSignal operates on a software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD) business model. It serves individual users for self-monitoring, healthcare providers for remote care and point-of-care diagnostics, and organizations for population health initiatives. The company generates revenue through its mobile application and is also developing a 'CardioSignal Inside' SDK for integration into other mobile health apps. As of January 2024, CardioSignal has raised a total of $23 million in funding over three rounds, with its latest Series A round raising $10 million, led by DigiTx Partners. The company has established partnerships with entities like Novartis and JISEKI Health and is working with the FDA for market entry into the United States.
