CallidusCloud

Marketing · Dublin, United States · Founded 1996

Provides sales effectiveness software and services MoreLess

Founded in 1996 by Andrew Swett and Scott Kitayama, CallidusCloud began as a provider of Enterprise Incentive Management (EIM) application systems. The company established a strong market presence, leading to an initial public offering in November 2003, which raised $70 million. Operating on a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, CallidusCloud delivered a comprehensive 'Lead to Money' suite of cloud-based solutions for enterprise clients, particularly those with large sales teams in sectors like technology and financial services.

The company's core business involved providing tools to enhance sales effectiveness and performance management. Its product portfolio was designed to manage the entire sales cycle, from identifying leads to final revenue. Key offerings included sales performance management (SPM), configure-price-quote (CPQ), contract lifecycle management (CLM), and sales enablement tools. Specific applications helped clients with territory and quota distribution, sales force automation, incentive compensation management, and sales gamification. The business generated revenue through subscriptions to these cloud-based solutions.

Over the years, CallidusCloud expanded its capabilities through strategic acquisitions, including Litmos for learning management in 2011, LeadFormix in 2012, and Datahug, a sales forecasting tool, in 2016. This growth culminated in its acquisition by SAP in January 2018 for approximately $2.4 billion. Following the acquisition, CallidusCloud's assets were integrated into the SAP Sales Cloud and SAP SuccessFactors portfolios, enhancing SAP's customer experience and CRM offerings. The company was delisted from the NASDAQ following the completion of the acquisition in April 2018.
