Biotrino ApS is a Danish biotechnology company established in April 2018, operating in the food and greentech sectors. The company was founded by Soren Hedegaard and originated at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). It positions itself to address the inefficiencies and environmental footprint of the traditional agriculture and farming industries by producing proteins and fats from microorganisms.

The core of Biotrino's business is the cultivation of Chlorella microalgae, which it markets as a Nordic Superfood called 'Blonde Chlorella'. This product is presented as a highly sustainable protein source, boasting a significantly lower carbon and water footprint compared to soy protein. The production process takes place in a closed system, which eliminates the need for pesticides and minimizes waste. Biotrino's primary product is a whole food, meaning nothing is removed from the algae during processing. It is vegan, free from common allergens like gluten and lactose, and non-GMO.
