Following a strategic shift, the company, now known as Simris Group, has expanded its focus to high-value, business-to-business (B2B) applications. This evolution includes leveraging its expertise in microalgae and cyanobacteria for the biopharmaceutical, cosmetic, and nutrition industries. A key development was the 2022 acquisition of Cyano Biotech GmbH, which enhanced the company's capabilities and intellectual property, particularly in cyanobacteria. The company now develops and produces bioactive substances for applications in advanced skincare (cosmeceuticals), specialty ingredients for the food industry (Novel Foods), and, most notably, the biopharma sector.
