Biocytogen is a global biotechnology company that provides integrated solutions for antibody-based drug research and development. Founded in 2008 in Worcester, Massachusetts, by Dr. Yuelei Shen, the company initially focused on creating genetically engineered models for clients. Dr. Shen, who has a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, was inspired by Regeneron's use of gene-edited mouse models for drug development. In 2009, the company expanded its operations to Beijing, China, to capitalize on lower operational costs and an emerging market.

The company's business model is structured around two main divisions: preclinical research services under the "BioMice" sub-brand and antibody discovery and development for out-licensing and partnerships. The BioMice division offers custom gene-editing services, off-the-shelf genetically modified animal models, and a suite of preclinical pharmacology services, including efficacy, safety, and mechanism-of-action studies. Revenue is generated through these contract research organization (CRO) services, as well as through the licensing of its proprietary antibody discovery platforms, out-licensing and co-development of antibody assets, and milestone payments. Biocytogen became a publicly traded company after its initial public offering on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in September 2022 (HKEX: 02315).

A cornerstone of Biocytogen's offerings is its proprietary RenMice® platforms (RenMab™, RenLite®, RenNano®), which are genetically engineered mice that produce fully human antibodies. This technology, developed using the company's Size-Unlimited and Precise Chromosome Engineering (SUPCE), allows for the discovery of therapeutic antibodies with high diversity and affinity. The company's large-scale "Project Integrum" aims to discover and develop antibody drugs for over 1,000 different targets. This project has created a substantial off-the-shelf library of fully human antibody sequences available for partnership. These integrated platforms and extensive antibody library are designed to streamline the entire drug development process for its clients, which include global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
