Bedrock Robotics is a San Francisco autonomous construction company founded in 2024 by former Waymo leaders including CEO Boris Sofman, CTO Kevin Peterson and VP Engineering Ajay Gummalla (with Tom Eliaz) that upgrades existing excavators and other heavy equipment with the Bedrock Operator hardware/software kit for supervised and progressively operator-less autonomy. The system uses cameras, lidar, IMUs and GPS plus large-scale ML for earthmoving on active sites; press cites deployments spanning Arizona, Texas and Arkansas and a large supervised autonomy job on a 130-acre manufacturing campus. After emerging from stealth in July 2025 with $80 million Seed and Series A, in February 2026 Bedrock raised $270 million Series B co-led by CapitalG and the Valor Atreides AI Fund at a $1.75 billion valuation (total funding over $350 million), with Xora, 8VC, Eclipse, Emergence, NVentures, Tishman Speyer, MIT and others.
