About Arago

Arago is a Paris deeptech company founded in 2024 by Nicolas Muller (CEO), Eliott Sarrey and Ambroise Müller that builds energy-efficient photonic AI processors using light instead of conventional electronics for data-centre and edge AI workloads. Its proprietary JEF photonic processor combines photonics, electronics and software, with the CARLOTA software stack integrating standard frameworks such as PyTorch so developers can run models without rewriting codebases; the company targets roughly 10×–30× lower energy use versus incumbent GPUs at comparable performance and operates teams across Paris, North America and Israel. In July 2025 Arago raised an oversubscribed $26 million seed co-led by Earlybird, Protagonist and Visionaries Tomorrow, with GenerativeIQ, C4 Ventures, Acequia Capital and angels including Bertrand Serlet, Olivier Pomel and Thomas Wolf, to accelerate commercialisation of JEF and expand the team.
