About Allyes Advertisement Network

Allyes Advertisement Network, known in Chinese as Hǎoyē (好耶), was established in October 1998, positioning itself as a pioneering force in China's burgeoning internet advertising sector. The company was founded by Wang Jiangang, a communications engineering graduate from Shanghai University, alongside a core team that included Wang Dingbiao and Yang Jiongwei. Grounded in a shared technical background, the founders aimed to build a technology-driven advertising firm.

The company's initial focus was on developing proprietary ad-serving technology. Its AdForward software suite, which covered ad serving, monitoring, creative, targeting, and performance evaluation, became a cornerstone of its operations and was adopted by a significant portion of China's commercial websites and ad agencies. Allyes provided a comprehensive suite of services including online marketing, performance-based marketing, and ad tech solutions. Its business model integrated technology services with online and performance-based marketing, serving clients by helping them maximize the value of internet traffic and achieve higher return on investment for their ad campaigns. The company's offerings included strategic marketing communication planning, media buying, ad tracking, and optimization services.

Allyes experienced rapid growth, securing its first venture capital investment from IDGVC in early 2000. By 2004, its revenue reached over 200 million yuan. This success attracted further investment, including a $30 million round from IDGVC and OAK Investment Partners in 2005. The company's trajectory was marked by a series of acquisitions. In 2007, Focus Media acquired Allyes for approximately $225 million in cash and stock. This move led to the departure of founder Wang Jiangang, who felt the new ownership's focus diverged from his original technology-centric vision. In 2010, Silver Lake acquired a majority stake from Focus Media, aiming to support Allyes' independent operation and innovation. However, subsequent years saw more ownership changes, including a sale to Huayi Jiaxin in 2015. Following a period of transformation challenges in the mobile internet era and facing business difficulties exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, Allyes announced it would cease operations starting December 11, 2020.
