Pulmonary disease therapeutics for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease MoreLess

AirNexis Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing therapies for pulmonary diseases, with a primary concentration on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The company was established in January 2026 by the investment firm Frazier Life Sciences. Upon its launch, AirNexis announced the close of a $200 million Series A financing round. The round was led by Frazier Life Sciences, with significant participation from other investors including OrbiMed, SR One, Life Sciences at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Longitude Capital, and Enavate Sciences.

The company's business model is centered on the in-licensing and global clinical development of promising drug candidates. AirNexis secured exclusive rights to develop and commercialize a clinical-stage asset, AN01 (also known as HSK39004), from Haisco Pharmaceutical Group for all territories outside of Greater China. Under the agreement, Haisco received $40 million in cash upfront and a 19.9% equity stake in AirNexis. The deal also includes potential regulatory and commercial milestone payments to Haisco of up to $955 million, plus royalties on net sales. Haisco retains the development and commercialization rights for mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau.

AirNexis' lead product, AN01, is a dual phosphodiesterase 3 and 4 (PDE3/4) inhibitor currently in Phase 2 development. This drug is designed to treat COPD through a dual mechanism of action that promotes bronchodilation (widening of the airways) and reduces inflammation. It is being developed in two inhaled formulations: an inhalation suspension and a dry powder inhaler (DPI), which may offer improved efficacy and patient experience over existing treatments. The proceeds from the Series A financing are dedicated to funding the global clinical development of AN01.

The leadership team includes CEO Maria Fardis, Ph.D., MBA, a venture partner at Frazier Healthcare Partners, and the board is chaired by James Li, M.D., another venture partner at Frazier Life Sciences. The board comprises members from the lead investing firms, reflecting a strong backing from experienced life sciences investors.
