About AEROPHILE
In 1993, two French engineers from the École Polytechnique, Jérôme Giacomoni and Matthieu Gobbi, founded AEROPHILE SAS with a vision to make ballooning accessible to everyone. Their journey began a year later, in 1994, with the launch of their first modern tethered balloon in Chantilly, France. This initial success set the stage for expansion, and by 1999, the company had installed three new balloons in France, including the iconic Paris Balloon. The company soon looked beyond France, establishing a significant presence in the United States. A major milestone came in 2005 with the installation of the PanoraMagique balloon at Disneyland Paris, followed by another at Walt Disney World in Florida in 2009. This move into high-traffic tourist destinations proved to be a core part of their strategy. AEROPHILE has now sold over 120 balloons in more than 40 countries. Never content to rest on one idea, Giacomoni and Gobbi diversified their offerings. In 2013, they introduced the 'Aerobar', an aerial bar that lifts patrons into the sky, first installed at the Futuroscope theme park. The following year, they opened their own amusement park, Parc du Petit Prince, in Alsace, though it was sold in 2025. A notable moment of global visibility occurred during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where an AEROPHILE balloon was used to raise the Olympic cauldron.
