BreezoMeter, an environmental intelligence company, was established in 2014 by Ran Korber, Emil Knaisher, and Ziv Lautman. The company's inception was driven by co-founder and CEO Ran Korber's personal experience searching for a home in a location with clean air for his wife, who suffered from asthma. Korber, an environmental engineer, leveraged his background to address the challenge of accessing accurate, real-time, and location-specific air quality data. He was joined by co-founder and CTO Emil Knaisher, a software engineer, and co-founder and CMO Ziv Lautman, bringing together expertise in environmental science, software development, and marketing.
The company developed a platform that provides real-time, street-level air quality data, including pollutant concentrations and the Air Quality Index (AQI), as well as pollen and wildfire tracking. BreezoMeter's technology aggregates data from multiple sources, such as governmental monitoring stations, low-cost sensors, traffic patterns, and meteorological data, and then applies proprietary dispersion models and algorithms to generate highly accurate and granular environmental intelligence. This approach allowed the company to offer forecasts and personalized health recommendations based on air quality conditions.
BreezoMeter's business model focused on a B2B and B2B2C approach, delivering its environmental data through APIs to a diverse client base. Customers included companies in the healthcare, smart home, automotive, and air purification industries, who integrated BreezoMeter's data into their own products and services to provide added value to their end-users. In a significant milestone demonstrating its market position, Google acquired BreezoMeter in 2022. Following the acquisition, BreezoMeter's services, including its Air Quality, Pollen, and Solar APIs, have been integrated into the Google Maps Platform and Google Cloud, expanding their reach and application.
