Key findings

• The Bay Area leads the 2026 Global Champions ranking with $20 trillion of enterprise value and 738 unicorns, ahead of New York City, Boston and London.
• The Bay Area also ranks 1st per capita, where Cambridge is 3rd with $264.2B of enterprise value per million inhabitants, Boulder 4th and Ghent 10th.
• Mumbai leads the Rising Stars ranking with enterprise value up 7.1x since 2019, and Indian and Chinese hubs take 12 of the top 20 places.
• Seoul ranks 10th among Global Champions with VC funding up 86.2% from 2019-20 to 2024-25, while 9th-placed Beijing's funding fell 63.1%.
• Munich ranks 3rd in the world for defence tech, 21 places above its all-sector rank, and Haifa ranks 13th, up 68 places.
