- Global demand for data centre capacity is projected to rise from 55 GW in 2023 to 219 GW in 2030 under the mid-range scenario, a 22% annual growth rate.
- Widespread adoption of gallium nitride semiconductors could cut global CO2 emissions by up to 2.6 gigatons a year by 2050.
- Quantum-enabled solutions could accelerate the world to net zero by 2050, a cumulative emissions impact of 185 gigatons.
- VC funding into selected European green computing startups reached $305m in 2024, the highest of the six years shown and more than double the $138m of 2023.
- More than 50 European next-gen computing startups with climate impact potential have raised $970m, twelve of them founded in the past year.
