Key findings

• The Bay Area ranks first on the index's Global Champions scale lens, where Paris is the top European hub at 4th, ahead of London at 6th.
• Cambridge in the UK ranks 3rd on the index's per-capita Density Leaders lens, behind only the Bay Area and Boston.
• Lagos tops the index's Rising Stars growth lens, having grown its ecosystem valuation 11.6x since 2017 and produced 5 unicorns.
• North America attracted $85B of global AI venture capital in 2024, against $13B in Europe.
• Deep tech venture funding in 2024 sat 13% below its 2021 peak, while funding for the rest of tech fell 62% from the same peak.
