Key findings

• Amsterdam's VC-backed deep tech startups are worth $8.8B in 2026, up from $4.0B in 2021, with Future of Compute and Sustainable Systems driving the growth.
• VC funding into Amsterdam deep tech grew 7x over the decade, from $24M in 2016 to a projected $162M in 2026, with 2023 the record year at $387M.
• Amsterdam has 128 VC-backed deep tech companies, of which 77% have raised under $15M, 4% have passed $100M and one has reached $1B in value.
• Dutch investors supplied 56% of Amsterdam's early-stage deep tech funding but 23% at breakout stage, where the rest of Europe supplied 51%.
• Five Amsterdam institutions produced 23 of the city's 37 VC-backed deep tech spinouts, and those 23 are 18% of its startups but 27% of its value, at $2.4B.
