Anthropic's amended S-1: $17B in Q3 revenue, a return to an operating loss and $895B in compute commitments

Anthropic's amended IPO filing on 2 November added Q3 numbers: revenue of $16.96B, up about 1,127% year on year and from $11.56B in Q2, but quarter-on-quarter growth slowed to about 47% from 144%. It swung to a $567M operating loss after a $974M operating profit in Q2, partly because it bought about $5B of pricier short-term compute to meet demand. For the first time it totals its purchase commitments and leases at about $895.4B, nearly all compute and infrastructure, with $69.8B due within 12 months and $447.5B by end-2030; Broadcom (about $161B), Google ($121B), SpaceX's AI unit (up to $120.5B) and Amazon ($110B) lead. Cash and short-term investments stood at $131.8B, and customers paying $100K+ a year rose to over 11,900 from 1,500 at end-2025.
