Crusoe CEO Chase Lochmiller on building an 'AI super major', from flared-gas Bitcoin mining to a $30.9B valuation

On Sequoia's Long Strange Trip podcast with Brian Halligan, Crusoe co-founder and CEO Chase Lochmiller describes the company as an AI 'super major' spanning power (upstream), data centres (midstream) and AI cloud (downstream), like an integrated oil company. Crusoe started by burning flared gas in the Bakken to mine Bitcoin, sold that business to NYDIG while it was profitable to focus on AI, now has more than 2,000 staff and raised a $3.9B Series F at a $30.9B post-money valuation in September. Lochmiller also covers scaling through domain experts, why most startups 'die from suicide, not homicide', and the data-centre backlash: 'The industry has a marketing problem. The truth is on our side.'
