Ben Horowitz: Databricks now gets more queries from AI agents than from people

In an a16z essay, Ben Horowitz and Michael McGuiness argue Databricks is becoming the system of record that lets AI agents do real work inside companies. They say it crossed a $7B revenue run rate in September, growing 80% year on year, at a $190B valuation, now sees more queries from agents than from humans, and has more than 17 million databases launched by agents every day. They expect agents to cut coordination costs inside firms, so more people specify, delegate and check work rather than follow set procedures. a16z is a Databricks investor and Horowitz sits on its board; the figures are company-reported.
