Electricity use tracks wealth, a16z chart shows, and Jitse Groen says Europe is oblivious to it

Elon Musk wrote that electricity production is the best metric for the true strength of any large-scale economy, quote-posting an a16z chart titled "Electricity Consumption vs GDP Per Capita". The chart plots each country's electricity use per head against GDP per head for 2021 (R-squared of 0.8, sources Energy for Growth Hub, US EIA and the World Bank) and makes the point that there are no low-electricity, rich countries. Jitse Groen said Musk is absolutely right and that most European countries seem oblivious to it.
