Wypo on raising a €500k round: the digital mortgage broker with ~20 banks

Key points

Key takeaways from a Slow Pitch interview with Wypo CEO Elena Ansótegui Gonzalez (September ️2026):

Origin story. Ansótegui, formerly director of legal services at a large company, founded Wypo after hitting the mortgage process herself while changing homes in the post-pandemic years.

Business model. Wypo acts as an agnostic digital mortgage broker: consumers compare personalised quotes from multiple banks and choose; Wypo earns commission from the bank, paid only on a successful completion, and leads are locked to the platform for six months once referred to a bank.

Product. The whole journey is done in about five minutes: per-bank personalised simulation, direct integration with official agencies (the Spanish tax agency AEAT and Social Security)so documents upload automatically, a private workspace, and e-signature of each bank-specific contract — with a mortgage expert alongside.

Market. Around €400m a year of mortgage commissions are generated in Spain; ~30% now flows through digital mortgage intermediaries(against ~3% in ️2021), compared with ~50% in Italy/Portugal and ~60% in Germany/UK — headroom she expects to be captured organically.

Second market: refinancing. Roughly 70% of mortgages signed three to ten years ago are candidates for improvement or portability; refinancing is now done daily rather than once every few years, anchored on an average saving of ~€250 per month per switch.

Traction. Agreements with ~20 banks, with live system integration at five; commission revenue has grown from ~€50k to ~€88k per month, aiming for €100k+ short-term, against ~€27–28k monthly acquisition spend;the 2028 target is €4m in annual commission revenue.

Team. A three-way senior founding team: Ansótegui(regulatory and legal expertise, 15+ years); Joaquín, formerly a branch-office director at Santander (15 years in banking, joined 2023);and Verónica, CTO,with 20+ years on national technology projects.

Funding. Wypo is currently raising a €500,000 round at a pre-money valuation of around €3.5m; proceeds will fund lowering CAC(product and web)and raising LTV, including a lead-monetisation agreement with home-services platform Wify anda data-sharing deal with a real-estate platform feeding ~2,000 active home-buyers per month.
