OpenAI upheaval mounts as Sam Altman readies IPO push

Nearly six reorganisations, repeated senior departures and the disbanding of OpenAI's preparedness team have unsettled staff as Sam Altman narrows focus to ChatGPT, enterprise competition and a likely 2027 IPO. The FT says OpenAI is at about $40bn annualised revenue versus Anthropic's $47bn in May, though accounting differs.
