Sebastian Thrun Raises $130 Million for AI Engineering Startup Dulo
Rocket Drew reports, citing one person with knowledge, that Sebastian Thrun (founder of Google X, cofounder of Google Brain, started the project that became Waymo) and Adrian Aoun (founder of Torch, acquired by OpenAI this year, plus Foundational and Seneca) founded Dulo in San Francisco earlier this year and recently closed a $130M seed round. Investors include Eric Schmidt, John Doerr, DST Global, Construct Capital and Lowercarbon Capital; ex-Autodesk CEO Carl Bass advises. Dulo builds 'foundation models for hardware design' to automate engineering design and validation, leaving manufacturing to others. Caveat: it faces Bezos' Prometheus, Larry Page's Dynatomics and improving frontier models such as GPT-6 Astra; no valuation is given.
Why it matters
A very large seed for a new hardware-design AI company with marquee founders and investors, all new profile data. It also helps map the emerging AI-for-engineering category (Dulo, Prometheus, Dynatomics).
