Originally designed to fill a gap in crypto options trading, Deribit has grown into one of the largest crypto derivatives platforms in the world by open interest and daily volume. Its core appeal lies in its sophisticated risk engine, low latency, and fee structure tailored to active and professional traders.

Facing increasing regulatory constraints in the European Union, Deribit relocated its operational base to Panama in early 2020. This strategic move allowed the company to maintain flexibility while navigating a shifting compliance environment. In 2024, Deribit announced another major milestone: the relocation of its global headquarters to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after securing a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from Dubai’s Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA).

The move to Dubai marks a new phase for Deribit, aligning the company with a forward-looking regulatory environment and positioning it for further growth in institutional markets. With its new headquarters at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Deribit is now deepening its presence in the Middle East while continuing to serve a global client base across 120+ countries.
