Chime’s Anticipated IPO
Chime, a leading U.S. neobank, has confidentially filed for an initial public offering (IPO) with plans to go public in 2025. Founded in 2012, Chime provides fee-free, app-based financial services, including checking and savings accounts, catering primarily to young Americans with annual incomes between $35,000 and $65,000.
The company has seen rapid expansion, with its valuation rising from $1.5 billion in 2019 to $25 billion in 2021. However, unfavorable market conditions led Chime to postpone its initial IPO plans in 2022. In 2024, it reignited its public offering efforts, appointing Morgan Stanley to lead the IPO.
As of 2024, Chime serves over 7 million customers, processes $8 billion in monthly transactions, and reported approximately $1.3 billion in revenue for 2023. The upcoming IPO is expected to be a major event in the fintech sector, highlighting Chime's growth and influence in digital banking.
