Championing Tech Innovation in the MENA Region

Amjad Ahmad is a seasoned investor with over two decades of experience in emerging markets, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. He currently serves as the Managing Partner at 500 Global MENA, where he leads initiatives to support growth-stage technology startups. In January 2025, under his leadership, 500 Global launched the 500 MENA fund, dedicated to investing in high-growth tech startups across the region.

Before joining 500 Global, Amjad was the CEO of NBK Capital Partners from 2005 to 2015, overseeing over $1 billion in venture and growth investments across sectors like technology, education, consumer products, and financial services.

Beyond his investment roles, Amjad has contributed to policy and educational initiatives. He was the chairman of the empowerME Initiative at the Atlantic Council, focusing on economic growth and entrepreneurship in the MENA region.

Amjad holds a master's degree in international affairs with a concentration in international finance and economics from Columbia University and is a graduate of the general management program at Harvard Business School.

His extensive experience and leadership have been instrumental in bridging funding gaps and driving innovation in the MENA startup ecosystem.
