Serial entrepreneur comes out of stealth with AI startup

Chaz Englander is a British entrepreneur renowned for co-founding multiple successful startups. In 2016, he co-founded Fat Llama, a peer-to-peer rental platform that allows users to rent out items they don't use daily and borrow items they need temporarily. The platform was acquired by Swedish competitor Hygglo in 2022 for $41.5 million, creating one of the largest peer-to-peer rental platforms globally.

In 2020, Englander co-founded Fancy, a UK-based rapid grocery delivery service. The company was acquired by U.S. delivery giant Gopuff in 2021, marking Gopuff's entry into the European market.

Englander has been part of Y Combinator multiple times, with Fat Llama participating in the Summer 2017 batch and Model ML in the Winter 2024 batch.

In 2023, he co-founded Model ML, an AI-driven workspace designed to expedite financial due diligence for investors and advisors. The company emerged from stealth in February 2025 with $12 million in funding.

Englander holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from the University of Wales. His professional background includes experience in finance, working with investment banks, hedge funds, fund managers, and brokers, as well as assisting European startups in fundraising efforts in London.
