Shuffle brings its £10M hospitality bet to Glasgow and Edinburgh
What's the deal? Hospitality fintech ShuffleDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has launched in Glasgow and Edinburgh, with plans to invest more than £10m in Scottish bars and restaurants. More than 55 Scottish venues have already joined, and the company intends to help fund 10 new openings.
What does Shuffle do? It pairs a consumer rewards app, which gives diners cashback, with funding for independent hospitality businesses. The Scottish launch follows growth in Manchester and Liverpool.
Why now? Scottish hospitality is under strain. The Scottish Licensed Trade Association's September survey found 58% of venues reporting decline and 97% reporting higher year-on-year costs.
What's the endgame? Shuffle's model targets both sides of that squeeze — cashback to lure diners, capital to ease financing pressure for operators. If delivered, the £10m pledge would make the move more than a rewards rollout.
What could go wrong? The investment is prospective. Available reports do not specify how much is committed, or on what terms.
The signal: Fintech is increasingly pushing into sector-specific niches where financing is scarce. Shuffle is betting that independent hospitality — squeezed by costs and soft demand — is one where demand-generation and capital, bundled together, can win.
