Antala Industries' $2.43M SME IPO draws 12.2x demand, lists November 11

What's the deal? Rajkot-based packaging maker Antala IndustriesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → closed its BSE SME IPO 12.2 times subscribed on November 5, raising US$3.12M. Investors bid for 4.24 crore shares against an offer of 34.82 lakh shares over six days, through 5,293 applications.

Why now? The all-fresh issue was priced at the top of its US$0.84-US$0.9 band. Antala plans to use US$1.45M for working capital and US$799.9K to buy machinery, with the rest for general corporate purposes.

What's the endgame? The company makes industrial and commercial packaging — BOPP bags, printing and lamination rolls, and PP woven bags and fabric rolls. It serves food processing, fertilisers, chemicals, cement, and seeds.

Institutions drove the demand. The qualified institutional buyer quota was subscribed 66.72 times, versus 37.38 times for non-institutional investors and 5.22 times for retail. Vatsa Capital Venture acted as merchant banker.

What could go wrong? Heavy subscription does not guarantee a strong debut. Grant Thornton reported average SME listing gains fell to 9.8% in FY26 from 44.1% a year earlier.

The signal: The oversubscription reflects appetite for small Indian SME listings even as returns cool. Allotment is expected by November 6, with trading on BSE SME set to begin November 11.
