AccessiWay buys Subly to add video, audio accessibility under one roof

What's the deal? AccessiWayDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a European digital accessibility provider owned by team.blue, has acquired SublyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, an AI-powered video and audio accessibility platform. Terms were not disclosed. The deal lets AccessiWay bundle web and app accessibility with multimedia remediation under a single provider.

What each side brings: AccessiWay audits and fixes websites and apps against WCAG, the international accessibility standard. Subly's platform adds captions, transcripts, audio descriptions, and subtitled translations for video and audio files.

What's the endgame? AccessiWay is folding Subly in-house, pairing its AI with human expert review. When an AccessiWay audit flags an inaccessible video or audio file, it now fixes the issue directly rather than passing it to a second vendor.

Why now? The European Accessibility Act took effect on June 28, 2025, requiring in-scope organisations to make digital products and services — including multimedia — accessible. Many rely on automatic captions alone, which leaves other WCAG requirements unmet. "Video and audio were the last piece missing from a truly 360-degree accessibility offering," said Amit Borsok, chief executive officer and co-founder of AccessiWay.

What changes for customers? They submit a file and receive a report, an accessible version, or both. No extra integrations or software are needed. The service covers audio descriptions, descriptive transcripts, subtitled translations, and warnings for flashing content that could trigger seizures.

What founders say: "Video and audio are the part of accessibility everyone leaves behind," said Holly Stephens, head of international expansion at AccessiWay and former chief executive officer and founder of Subly. "The web can't be fully accessible until it's solved."

The signal: The acquisition is mainly about portfolio breadth and a simpler procurement pitch — one partner for web, mobile, and multimedia. It follows AccessiWay's naming as a Leader in Gartner's first Magic Quadrant for Digital Accessibility Platforms in October 2026, a strategic backdrop as it expands its offering under team.blue. On its own, though, the deal is not evidence of a wider wave of large accessibility-sector M&A.
