Simply Jet buys Austria's FlyTyrol to bring charter operations in-house

What's the deal? Swiss charter broker Simply JetDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has acquired FlyTyrol, an Austrian air operator certificate (AOC) holder based in Innsbruck, for an undisclosed sum. The deal closed in September; FlyTyrol keeps its name and 14 staff.

What each side brings: Founded in 2001, FlyTyrol operates four Cessna Citation jets — two available for charter and two managed for private owners. Simply Jet, headquartered in Lausanne with subsidiaries in France and the UK, has focused on charter brokerage, a jet card programme, and aircraft sales since 2016.

What's the endgame? The acquisition gives Simply Jet its own AOC and brings charter operations and aircraft management in-house, extending its role beyond brokerage. CEO Yann-Guillaume Jaccard called it "the missing piece of the puzzle," letting charter customers "progress to aircraft ownership while maintaining the same relationships."

Why now? The deal also provides a succession path. Founder Helmut Eder will step down in 2027, with Philipp Jarnoth taking over as managing director.

Growth plan: Simply Jet aims to grow FlyTyrol from four aircraft to 10 managed aircraft by 2030, adding two to three per year between 2027 and 2030. It favours Citation-series jets but is open to other manufacturers, and Jaccard said it remains in the market for further deals, potentially including maintenance businesses.

The signal: This is a platform-and-growth play rather than a large fleet purchase, reflecting a broader push by business-aviation firms to expand across charter brokerage, management, and operations. Gama AviationDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →'s 2026 purchase of broker Hunt & PalmerDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → is a comparable move, though in the opposite direction along the service chain.
