FTQ takes equity stake in Quebec armoured-vehicle maker Cambli

What's the deal? Fonds de solidarité FTQDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has become a shareholder in Cambli Group, a Quebec-based manufacturer of armoured vehicles, to support its growth in the security and defence sectors. The investment was announced in late October 2026. Terms were not disclosed.

What's the endgame? Cambli designs, manufactures, and integrates armoured vehicles used in cash-in-transit operations, public safety, and defence applications. It said the funding will expand production capacity and strengthen its ability to fulfil larger contracts in Canada and international markets.

Why now? Canada is moving to build up domestic defence manufacturing. Its February 2026 Defence Industrial Strategy prioritises Canadian suppliers, and a nearly US$1.47B General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada deal in July added 190 armoured support vehicles to the federal order book.

What could go wrong? The deal's commercial impact is not yet clear. Its terms remain undisclosed, and no contract has been announced tied to the fresh capital.

The signal: The investment is a private-capital move to scale a Quebec manufacturer amid a policy and procurement push. Quebec is also directing public support toward defence suppliers, including US$24.2M announced in February to help 28 organisations enter defence supply chains.
