Hydrosat announces Nyktòs high-resolution thermal surveillance capability for NATO
What's the deal? Hydrosat, the Luxembourg-based satellite company, announced on 2 November 2026 a new high-resolution mid-wave infrared (MWIR) capability called Nyktòs, designed for day-and-night tactical surveillance and taskable by governments. The system will be built in Europe and will pair with Hydrosat's Osiris wide-area thermal constellation, whose first two satellites are scheduled to launch in 2027.
Why it matters: Aimed at NATO members and allied governments seeking sovereign space-based intelligence, Nyktòs adds a high-resolution tasking layer on top of Osiris (25 m resolution, 340 km swath), letting customers task imaging of specific targets at any time of day or night.
