Why now? Apollo says ECC addresses financing needs tied to what it calls Europe's industrial renaissance. President Jim Zelter pointed to demand across "energy transition and transmission, defense, or digital and traditional infrastructure."

What's the endgame? ECC will finance large and mid-market opportunities, working with companies, sponsors, and real asset owners, including in infrastructure and real estate. It will source deals through proprietary origination, partnerships with European financial institutions, and access to Apollo's wider European credit platform.

Market expansion: ECC launches with a presence in Frankfurt, Jersey, London, Luxembourg City, and Milan, with plans to add markets in the coming quarters. The platform is led by chief executive officer Giacomo Petrobelli and chairman Christian Meissner.

Petrobelli said the launch is driven by "a generational opportunity to mobilise global pools of capital to finance Europe's long-term growth agenda," adding the aim is to build ECC into "a premier pan-European credit platform."

The signal: ECC is the latest entry in a fast-growing private-credit market. Moody's expects global private-credit assets under management to top $2 trillion in 2026 and approach $4 trillion by 2030 — making the scale of Apollo's push notable, even as the €10 billion figure describes lending capacity rather than capital deployed.
