Alfa Laval refinances with €1 billion credit line after record quarter

What's the deal? Sweden's Alfa LavalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has refinanced its revolving credit facility with a €1 billion line, replacing its previous facility. BNP Paribas and SEBDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → led the deal as joint coordinators, with Bank of America, Danske Bank, Crédit Agricole CIB, Handelsbanken, HSBC, ING, Nordea Bank, and Standard Chartered participating.

What are the terms? The facility matures in five years, with options to extend by up to two years and to add a further €200 million. Alfa Laval did not disclose pricing or indicate the line had been drawn.

Why now? The refinancing follows a strong third quarter: orders rose 36% year over year to a record US$2.8B, operating cash flow reached US$411M, and net debt including leases stood at 0.94 times trailing EBITDA.

What's the endgame? Alfa Laval makes heat transfer, centrifugal separation, and fluid handling equipment for sectors including energy, food, water, and maritime transport. The new line is a liquidity and maturity-management move rather than a rescue or a fresh capital raise, giving it flexibility as it invests for growth.

The company reported 2025 sales of US$8.41B (about €6.6 billion) and employs more than 23,500 people across more than 100 countries.

The signal: At €1 billion, the deal ranks in the 91st percentile among post-IPO debt rounds in Sweden's energy sector over the past four years, based on a sample of 689. For a profitable industrial with low leverage, locking in a large facility signals confidence in continued expansion more than any need for cash.
