Coveo buys YC-backed Anglera to feed product data to AI shopping assistants
What's the deal? Coveo, a Montreal-based AI search company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, has acquired AngleraDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a San Francisco startup that enriches product data for e-commerce catalogs. Terms were not disclosed. The deal, announced in October 2026, folds Anglera's enrichment engine into Coveo's commerce platform.
What does Anglera do? Backed by Y Combinator, the startup uses AI to pull product details — dimensions, materials, compatibility — from specifications, PDFs, and images, then standardizes them against each customer's catalog. It was built for complex B2B and B2C catalogs where products carry hundreds of technical attributes.
Why now? Buyers increasingly research and compare products through AI assistants, not just conventional search. But missing attributes can reduce product discoverability by up to 30%, according to NielsenIQ. Products with the best data are easier to surface and buy across both e-commerce sites and AI tools.
What's the endgame? Coveo supplies AI-powered search that reads buyer intent and behavior; Anglera enriches the underlying data. "Anglera enriches data at the source, and Coveo connects it to what buyers are looking for," said Laurent Simoneau, chief executive officer and co-founder of Coveo. The combination targets both onsite discovery and external AI assistants.
The signal: The deal fits a clear shift in commerce software, with platforms racing to make catalogs usable by AI assistants. Salesforce has integrated acquired search startup Cimulate into Agentforce Commerce, and Adobe has introduced tools to structure catalog data for AI-driven discovery. With no price disclosed, the deal's weight is strategic rather than financial — and its payoff will hinge on integration and customer uptake.
