Xuguang buys out minority stakes in materials unit for $2.13M

What's the deal? Chengdu Xuguang ElectronicsDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → (SH600353) will pay US$1.95M (roughly $2.13 million) to acquire a combined 19.13% minority stake in subsidiary Chengdu Xuci. The cash deal, announced October 29, lifts Xuguang's holding from 50.43% to 69.56%.

The specifics: Xuguang is buying out three minority shareholders — about 4.35% from Chengdu Zhonglue, 10.43% from Guangzhou Zhishuo, and 4.35% from Xi'an Shuojie. The respective price tags are US$442.8K, US$1.06M, and US$442.8K.

What's the endgame? Chengdu Xuci's electronic materials business is a strategic priority for Xuguang. It said the deal is meant to strengthen control over the unit and support the orderly growth of its aluminium nitride business.

Why now? Demand for high-thermal-conductivity electronic materials is rising. Xuguang's aluminium nitride revenue grew more than 45% year on year in the first half of 2026, and the company reported high capacity utilisation.

The buyout also follows a push to expand production. Xuguang recently approved a US$24.8M technical upgrade at subsidiary Ningxia Beici, targeting 640 tonnes of new annual powder capacity.

What changes? Not much on paper. Chengdu Xuci remains a controlled subsidiary, so the deal does not change the scope of Xuguang's consolidated reporting.

The signal: The modest price tag matters less than the intent. This is vertical integration — tightening control of a materials unit as China's domestic push for high-performance electronic materials heats up. The open questions remain customer validation, capacity ramp-up, and returns on cash invested.
