Henan state capital takes 52% control of foil maker Guorong

What's the deal? Henan Xingxing Industrial Investment, part of state-owned Henan Capital Group, has bought a 52.10% stake in Henan Guorong Electronic TechnologyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, making it the controlling shareholder. The transfer, announced October 29, puts Henan's state-assets regulator in position as Guorong's ultimate controller.

The terms: Forty individual shareholders, including Wang Xiangyu and Wang Weimin, plus nine institutional holders signed share-transfer agreements with the buyer. The deal value was not disclosed.

What does Guorong do? Founded in April 2019 and listed on China's New Third Board in September 2024, the Shangqiu-based company makes electronic aluminum foil and electrode foil — core materials for aluminum electrolytic capacitors used in consumer electronics, industrial control, new energy, automotive, and communications. Its electronic foil holds a top-three domestic market share.

By the numbers: Guorong reported US$177.2M in 2025 revenue, a fifth straight year of growth, driven by expanded foil capacity and new formed-foil production lines reaching output targets. Total assets stood at US$239.9M at year-end, with net assets attributable to shareholders of US$100.4M.

Why now? The acquisition completes a deal first announced in July. It fits Henan's strategy of using state capital to build out advanced aluminum-based and electronic materials, leaning on the province's established aluminum industry.

What could go wrong? State backing could support capacity growth and industrial-chain coordination, but the transfer alone is not evidence of new orders or improved profitability. Whether those benefits materialize will determine the deal's significance.

The signal: The sector's strategic appeal is rising as rivals such as Dongyangguang invest in high-performance foil and report supply links to capacitor makers serving AI server power systems. Henan's move signals a broader push to anchor materials supply chains with state capital.
