KFB bets $9.5M on AI platform RAFA to steer industrial decisions
What's the deal? Polish vibroacoustics and environmental technology firm KFB Technologies has invested more than US$8.75M (roughly $9.5 million) in RAFA, its AI-based platform that helps companies manage their impact on surroundings — noise, air, water, and soil pollution. The firm, headquartered near Wrocław, has begun commercial sales and is preparing to scale internationally.
What's the endgame? RAFA combines measurement data, analytics, predictive models, and expert knowledge, and KFB describes it as "Managed Decision Infrastructure." The platform is central to the company's wider push into what it calls Decision Technologies — tools that help businesses make calls in complex operating environments.
Why now? Since the start of the year, KFB says it has deployed RAFA at over a dozen multinational companies and completed early pilots across industry, construction, cities, and biogas plants. The company now works with 250 clients and has delivered 2,500 environmental projects.
What's next? KFB plans to prioritise commercial scaling, starting in Western Europe and Scandinavia before expanding to other markets. It expects a significant rise in RAFA sales in 2027.
"We built the technological foundation, confirmed RAFA's applications in real conditions, and began selling," said Filip Barański, co-founder and chief executive officer of KFB Technologies. "We want to develop KFB as a company creating technologies that turn data into better decisions." (translated from Polish)
The firm argues existing IoT and Big Data tools gather large volumes of information but are not built as complete data infrastructure for detection and prediction models in a specific operational context. RAFA, it says, aims to get the right information to the right people while they can still change an operational, environmental, or investment outcome.
The signal: RAFA fits a broader push to digitise Polish industrial operations — Węglokoks, for instance, has announced a roughly US$125M programme to modernise and digitalise steel production. Rather than general-purpose factory automation, KFB is betting on a specialised Industry 4.0 niche: continuous environmental oversight and risk analysis.
