Try Dealroom → and Ansmann. Austria's research funding agency FFG is backing Klartext AI's role with roughly €250,000.

What's the endgame? The project aims to combine circularity assessments, an AI assistant and an interoperable product passport for electronics. Klartext AI is building the "ManageR Copilot," with cameras and chargers serving as demonstrators. The collaboration runs through September 2029.

Why now? The work lands as the EU pushes to make product data usable for repair, reuse and recycling. The Digital Product Passport registry framework was established in July 2026, the same month the bloc's right-to-repair rules began applying.

What could go wrong? This is an R&D collaboration, not a launched product or evidence of commercial traction. The €250,000 grant is a modest project award rather than a major financing event; Klartext AI's only prior disclosed funding is a €75,000 Vienna Business AgencyDealroom has a profile for this one. The signal: Klartext AI, whose core work spans PDF accessibility and AI reliability, is positioning its research against tightening EU circularity rules. As the Digital Product Passport takes shape, startups that can turn product data into tools for repair and recycling stand to gain policy-driven demand.
